Country/Region: Scotland/Speyside
Cask: Bourbon barrel
ABV: 55.4%

This has a beautiful and interesting nose. Malted barley, sweet and heathery. Strong bourbon cask influence with almond extract. A bit of absinthe and anise along with Flinstone vitamins I took as a child.

Sipping, I found this whisky to be a rather by-the-book bourbon cask expression. Sweet and spicy bourbon and oak. Some crème brûlée with a hint of cinnamon. Less anise now. Pleasing floral oils and a light fruit syrup.

The finish is expected: warming, oaky bourbon. Not as full or lingering as I would like. The caramel and fruit syrup hangs around as everything fades away, along with a bit of char and almond as I exhale.

Enjoyable and interesting on the nose, but a bit standard fare otherwise. Well composed, aged whisky, but nothing particularly interesting for my taste.

Rating: 3 / 5

Mental Image: Absinthe Flinstone vitamin old fashioned.
