Bowmore 8 Year, Feis Isle 2025
Oloroso seasoned Spanish oak (single) cask
100% floor malted barley (typically 20-30%)
56% abv
Nose: Unctuous. Dark, brackish. Licorice. Stewed, salty red fruits. Raisins. Make this a cologne, please.
Palate: Dry. Practically grippy. Sumptuous sherry. Walnuts. Sprinkle of salt. Solid mouthfeel. Gets quite decadent, rich caramel.
Finish: Immediately syrupy and juicy. Everything wafts up in smoke. Gets a little spicy. Turns a touch bitter.
The notes above may not be all that interesting or surprising, but this is quality whisky. Hats off to Bowmore for this single cask Feis release.
Score: 4/5
Mental Image: Sherry estuaries.
